HVAC Service Technician

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing commercial and residential HVAC systems. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and customer service.

The successful candidate will support a diverse portfolio of properties, including retail facilities, office buildings, luxury residential homes, multi-family housing communities, and government facilities.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

•Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.

•Install, replace, and commission HVAC equipment and related components.

•Respond to service calls and emergency repair requests in a timely manner.

•Ensure all work is completed in compliance with local codes, safety regulations, and company standards.

•Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and work orders.

•Inspect equipment performance and recommend repairs or upgrades as needed.

•Test HVAC systems and verify proper operation after repairs and installations.

•Collaborate with property managers, building engineers, and customers to resolve HVAC-related concerns.

•Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in safe working condition.

•Follow all OSHA, EPA, and company safety guidelines.

Required Qualifications

•Minimum of 7 years of mechanical HVAC experience.

•Proven experience servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing HVAC systems.

•Strong understanding of HVAC principles, refrigeration cycles, and building mechanical systems.

•Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

•Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

•Strong communication and customer service abilities.

•Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.

•Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.

Required Licenses & Certifications

•Valid FDNY Torch License and/or Fire Guard Certificate of Fitness.

•EPA Certification is highly preferred.

•Additional HVAC certifications are a plus.

Controls & Diagnostics

•HVAC Control Systems

•Building Automation Systems (BAS) preferred

•Thermostats and Sensors

•Electrical Components and Circuits

•Preventive Maintenance Programs

Physical Requirements

•Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.

•Ability to climb ladders, work on rooftops, and access confined spaces.

•Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

•Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.

Education

•High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

•Technical HVAC training or trade school certification is a plus.
