Patient Care TechnicianSentara is currently hiring a Patient Care Technician to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on the Intermediate Care Unit 3 East.Hours/Shift:Full-time, Day shift. 7 am to 7 pmDepartment/Position Overview:Are you looking to test your skills and learn new ones? This 33-bed intermediate care step down unit provides care for high acuity patients. Roles and responsibilities of our PCTs include patient rounding, ADLs, and assisting nurses with bedside procedures, among other responsibilities. We would love for you to apply today!As a Patient Care Technician with Sentara, you will have the opportunity to learn many new skills. From taking vitals to blood draws and daily care. The primary duties of this position include supporting the admission/discharge process, changing, bathing ambulating patients, drawing blood, foley catheter care, meeting patient needs while working under the direct supervision of a nurse. You will find that teamwork is exceptional, with everyone working together to provide the best care for our patients.Minimum Requirements:One year of prior health care experience preferred.American Health Associate BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.High School Diploma or Equivalent and one of the following:Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, orSuccessful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), orNational Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), orNational Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), orCompletion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, orEmergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, orCurrent student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT, orCurrent work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.Sentara Benefits:Sentara employees strive to make our communities healthier places to live.
