Job Summary The Senior Accountant works under tight deadlines on a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger review, coordinating month-end close activities, review of assigned financial statement line items, year-end audit preparation, and special projects. Reporting to the Manager of Accounting, the Senior Accountant must possess a high degree of curiosity and apply principles of accounting to analyze and report on complex financial information. Establish, modify, document, and improve implementation internal control procedures. Essential Functions Monthend close-analyze and record complex accounting entries. Analyze and summarize financial results Participate and support annual financial statement audit Prepare complex account reconciliations Support managers with ad hoc requests Contribute efforts towards continuous improvement over the design, implementation, and maintenance of effective internal controls over financial reporting throughout the organization. Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Strong analytical & problem-solving skills with ability to make recommendations and/or improve processes using acquired data and experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to summarize financial and accounting data clearly and concisely. Working knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles. Ability to establish and maintain respectful and collaborative working relationships with staff, faculty, students, and stakeholders. Minimum Education, Training, And Experience Required Three years of progressive accounting experience with monthend close responsibilities required. Hospital experience preferred. Advanced excel skills required. Three years with financial software and ERP financial application preferred. Bachelors degree in accounting required. CPA preferred Patient Contact Position does not require patient contact. Skills If applicable, must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for patients in the following age groups. If applicable, must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status. Possess the ability to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s/department’s policies and procedures. Physical Requirements Sedentary - Light Work - Lifting up to 15 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes). While work is mostly done sitting, a certain amount of walking or standing is often necessary.
