Project Manager II

About the Role The BCBSMA Project Manager II is a highly competent and energetic professional responsible for developing, implementing, and promoting business‑critical operational initiatives across the BCBSMA organization. The role focuses on strategy, planning, implementation, and cross‑functional communication with leadership, vendor partners, and contractors. The position is eligible for the FLEX persona. Responsibilities Manage mission‑critical work that supports the execution of local and corporate projects. Oversee cross‑functional initiatives that improve member and provider experiences. Work with the BCBSMA leadership team to determine mission, vision, goals, and execute objectives for corporate initiatives, including implementation of strategic plans. Partner with business teams to create project impact assessments, redesign business processes, and develop plans to achieve critical path deliverables. Lead efforts to create internal partnerships with key stakeholders to increase project impact, sustainability, and visibility within the Operations Division and across the enterprise. Consistently manage projects and competing deliverables to meet critical milestones, budgets, and timelines. Involve stakeholders in maintaining scope and establishing realistic execution plans, including risk mitigations. Identify, secure, and allocate necessary resources to satisfy project deliverables. Participate on project steering committees to provide status updates, raise risks, and partner on mitigation plans. Partner with corporate communications to develop enterprise‑wide internal and external communication plans for stakeholder engagement. Engage Audit and Risk Leadership to ensure enterprise‑wide risk mitigation and fulfill necessary corporate audit functions. Conduct project assessments, facilitate planning, manage major deliverables and milestones, and oversee implementations. Guide business process redesign efforts, manage deliverables and timelines, and prepare senior leadership dashboard reporting. Assess business, financial, member experience, security, and risk impacts, and recommend operational start, stop, and change actions. Document project charters and opportunity statements, and identify synergy between related projects. Adhere to BCBSMA audit, risk, security, privacy, and compliance policies and procedures. Qualifications 2–5 years of experience in a project coordinator role. 5–7 years of experience participating on local and corporate projects. Provide business and/or operations recommendations, facilitate development of success criteria, manage process improvements, and serve as a subject‑matter expert. High school diploma required; associate degree or equivalent project management coursework preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to lead and motivate teams. Effective people and team management skills. Superior organizational, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
