Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a night shift travel assignment at an acute care hospital in Georgia, requiring a GA or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of OR experience.

Details

• Work setting is an acute care hospital OR department with 19 surgical suites
• High-volume OR averaging 55–60 cases per day and approximately 1,000 cases per month
• Full-service OR performing a wide range of procedures including ortho/neuro trauma, robotics, and cardiothoracic cases — no major pediatric cases, transplants, or C-sections in the main OR
• Functions at a Level 2 trauma capacity
• Charting performed in MEDITECH
• Night shift: 7p–7a, 12-hour shifts
• On-call requirement averages every 7th weekend; no weekday call for general staff — specialty call (ortho/neuro and cardio/thoracic) available to travelers if cases fall within their competency
• 30-minute call response time required
• Weekend coverage required approximately once per quarter
• No floating required

Requirements

• Active GA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2–3 years of OR RN experience required
• Broad OR competency across most surgical services required
• Scrubbing experience preferred but not required
• MEDITECH EMR experience preferred
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility (based on address on driver's license) to be eligible
• Candidates must not have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months
• Driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• One week of unit-specific orientation provided
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• OR techs (CSTs) are on staff and support the surgical team
• Specialty teams for ortho/neuro and cardio/thoracic take nightly call; travelers may join specialty call only if cases are within their documented competency
• Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff; flexibility is required
• Facility emphasizes reliability, punctuality, and strong attendance — travelers with consistent attendance records are strongly preferred
• Skills checklist must accurately reflect experience; proficiency ratings must be genuine and verifiable
• Any requested time off must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment
• First-time travelers are not mentioned as eligible — strong, experienced candidates preferred
