CT Technologist Position Summary
CT (computed tomography) technologists are radiologic technicians who specialize in taking cross-sectional x-ray images of the tissues, bones, organs and blood vessels in an area of a patient's body. Responsibilities
• Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns
• Produces computerized tomography scanner radiographs of specific areas as required by the departmental procedures
• Performs a variety of tasks
• Works under general supervision
• A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
• Typically reports to a supervisor or manager
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
• Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
• Completion of an AMA approved School of Radiology Technology required, Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy
• ARRT certification in Radiography and/or Radiation Therapy, And/or Certification in Nuclear Medicine through the NMTCB required
• CT certification within one year of employment required
• BLS required
Working Conditions
• Must be able to lift and move up to 35lbs
• Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
• Typical equipment used in a clinical job
• Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
• Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
