Founding AI Engineer (Generalist)

A little about us

We're a very early-stage AI startup working at the intersection of personalization, applied AI research, and product development.

Our first focus is health. We want to build a more factual, personalized approach to health and wellness, helping people better understand their own health, make informed decisions, and take meaningful steps toward improving their lives.

We're still at the beginning, which means there's plenty to research, experiment with, and build!

What you'll be doing

• Building prototypes and turning ideas into working applications.
• Exploring personalization, recommendation systems, and applied machine learning.
• Experimenting with LLMs, AI agents, and emerging technologies.
• Working across the stack — frontend, backend, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• Reading research papers, testing ideas, and putting interesting concepts into practice.
• Helping build, deploy, and maintain mobile and web applications, including App Store releases.
• Taking projects from rough concepts to something people can actually use.

Who we're looking for

We're not too concerned about your degree, years of experience, or where you've worked.

We'd love to meet someone who:

• Enjoys building things just for the fun of it.
• Has interesting projects or research ideas they're excited to discuss.
• Is comfortable with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Is curious about AI, machine learning, and personalization.
• Enjoys understanding how things work as much as building them.
• Can learn quickly, work independently, and adapt as ideas evolve.
• Wants to build technology that makes a meaningful difference.

You don't need to know everything. We'd much rather work with someone curious, resourceful, and excited to learn.

Location and Work Authorization

We're currently prioritizing candidates based in the  Greater Seattle Area , including Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Seattle, and surrounding communities.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship. EXTOTEM is not currently enrolled in E-Verify and cannot support employment arrangements requiring employer participation in E-Verify, such as a STEM OPT extension.
