RN - Nursery/NICU - Nights

This job acts as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. The role effectively delegates, directs and assists licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes; and exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity in all interactions. The position maintains involvement in activities aimed toward the achievement of unit and department strategic goals, demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability for its own practice, and supports the company's philosophy of nursing. Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Required) Bachelor's degree in nursing (Preferred) Work Experience None (Required) Certifications Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice (Required) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (Required) Certification in a clinical specialty area (Preferred) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Job Duties Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care. Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family and other groups or disciplines. Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team. Uses data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes. Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improvement in the profession of nursing. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style. Performs other related duties as assigned. Physical and Environmental Demands Heavy work includes exerting 50–100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25–50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10–20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue, and involve occupational risk for communicable diseases. The role is within a healthcare setting and may involve exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste.
