URGENT :: Design Piping lead : Lebanon, IN

Project Description:

Our client is executing a $2B+ greenfield pharmaceutical/API manufacturing facility and is seeking an experienced Piping Lead / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as a key member of the Owner's project team. This individual will provide senior technical and field leadership across piping construction, installation, equipment integration, commissioning readiness, and turnover.

The Piping Lead will act as an Owner's Representative, working closely with the EPCM firm, construction contractors, specialty subcontractors, equipment vendors, and a broader project team of approximately 30 professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving execution in the field, challenging and supporting the EPCM contractor, resolving technical and construction issues, and ensuring piping systems are installed in accordance with GMP, design, quality, schedule, and safety requirements.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience supporting large-scale greenfield pharmaceutical/API projects, with a strong background in hygienic/clean piping, pharmaceutical process equipment, clean-build programs, and GMP construction environment

Day to Day:

Serve as the Owner's piping SME and field representative throughout construction and turnover activities.
Lead and provide technical oversight for pharmaceutical/API process piping systems, utility piping, hygienic piping, and associated equipment connections.
Drive daily construction execution and provide field leadership to ensure piping activities remain aligned with project schedule and milestones.
Interface directly with the EPCM firm (Fluor) to drive engineering deliverables, field execution, RFIs, technical resolutions, and construction progress.
Provide oversight and direction to piping subcontractors and construction contractors, holding teams accountable for quality, safety, productivity, and schedule.
Review piping design packages, isometrics, P&IDs, specifications, material selections, installation details, and equipment interfaces.
Support installation and integration of pharmaceutical process equipment, skids, tanks, vessels, pumps, and associated piping systems.
Ensure execution aligns with GMP, hygienic design, clean-build, and pharmaceutical construction requirements.
Identify field issues, develop practical solutions, and coordinate resolution between engineering, construction, QA/QC, commissioning, and operations.
Participate in daily/weekly construction meetings, progress reviews, schedule discussions, and contractor coordination meetings.
Monitor piping progress against critical path activities and identify potential schedule risks or construction constraints.
Support system walkdowns, punch-list development, mechanical completion, turnover, commissioning, and Operations Readiness activities.
Partner with CQ/commissioning and validation teams to ensure piping systems are properly prepared for turnover.
Maintain strong communication with project leadership and provide clear reporting on piping progress, risks, issues, and required actions.
Skills:

15+ years of pharmaceutical/API, biotech, chemical, or highly regulated process piping experience, with significant experience in GMP environments.
Proven experience on large-scale greenfield pharmaceutical/API facility construction projects; greenfield experience is highly preferred and considered critical.
Previous experience serving as an Owner's Representative, Piping Lead, Construction Lead, or Piping SME on major capital projects.
Strong pharmaceutical process piping and hygienic piping experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical process equipment and equipment-to-piping interfaces.
Experience with clean-build programs, GMP construction practices, and regulated manufacturing environments.
Proven ability to manage and drive EPCM firms and multiple piping subcontractors in an active construction environment.
Strong understanding of piping fabrication, installation, welding, orbital welding, testing, flushing, cleaning, passivation, and turnover requirements.
Ability to interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics, specifications, equipment drawings, and construction packages.
Experience supporting CQ/commissioning, mechanical completion, punch-list closure, and turnover to Operations.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent field experience will be considered.
