Job Description Safety & Training Manager (Woodland, CA) The Safety Manager ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and company safety requirements. Responsibilities include continuous leadership, recruitment, and training of operator candidates, promoting strong leadership and positive employee morale throughout the location. Benefits Competitive compensation: $85,000 – $88,000 Vacation: minimum 2 weeks Sick days: 5 days Holidays: 12 days (8 standard + 4 floating) Standard benefits: 401(k) plan, medical/dental/vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, voluntary long‑term disability Key Responsibilities Provide behind‑the‑wheel instruction per corporate and client specifications for defensive driving, service area familiarization, passenger loading/unloading, and securement. Conduct classroom training in accordance with corporate and location requirements. Ensure all safety manuals, programs, policies, and procedures are current and meet location needs. Document all training activities and maintain accurate employee training records. Establish relationships with client and corporate personnel to identify additional training needs. Prepare and conduct monthly safety meetings. Maintain an adequate filing system and participate in audits and inspections. Direct the location’s drug & alcohol program, including random testing and file updates. Manage injury prevention program to reduce workplace injuries. Conduct accident investigations using root‑cause analysis and assign re‑training as needed. Maintain/post the OSHA log. Conduct road observations to evaluate operator safety, customer service, and systematic knowledge. Provide coaching and re‑training on Drive Cam. Respond to customer comments related to service. Other duties as required. Travel requirement outside of immediate area Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum 3 years’ experience in the passenger transportation industry. Experience in location safety or operations management. Proven ability to provide quality training and create/manage training materials. Subject to DOT drug testing and physical (if applicable). DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis. Physical Requirements Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions—100% of the job is performed outside, often alone and in remote locations. Sit for extended periods (up to 6‑8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances on uneven or slippery surfaces. Push and pull objects up to 30 pounds; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise. Drug‑Free Workplace Must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future. Must successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
