RN: Med/Surg

Job Description: Step into a 12-hour nights Med/Surg role supporting a fast-paced unit in Bridgeport, West Virginia. This assignment centers on 5 South, with typical nurse-to-patient assignments mainly around 1:5–6 on both days and nights, occasionally reaching 7 patients once or twice per month depending on acuity later in the shift. You’ll work within a structured team including a Charge Nurse on every unit, Nurse Aides, and in-house Respiratory Therapy (RT 24/7) that manages CPAP/BiPAP and vents, while nurses complete key bedside tasks such as aerosols for non-vented patients and EKGs. Clinical work includes common diagnoses and types of patients such as CHF, cardiac cath, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, ortho, and oncology (with perm staff administering chemo). Charting is completed in EPIC, and nurse support extends across the facility with an IV Team available M–F until 10 pm and weekends until 3:30 pm. Tele Phillips is used on most units, and RN capability to read and interpret strips is expected. A floor-specific orientation (1–2 shifts with a preceptor) is provided.
