Progressive Care Unit - PCU

Schedule

Shift options: 36 or 48 hours

Assignment Details
Census: Daily ~38; Unit size 55 beds

Requirements
- Preferred: 2 years of PCU/cardiac experience
- Will consider: 1+ year experience
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; CPI preferred
- EMR: Epic

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care for adult and geriatric cardiovascular patients, including those with CHF, STEMI/NSTEMI, and those recovering from cardiac surgery or catheterization.
- Monitor telemetry and recognize dysrhythmias.
- Administer and manage cardiac drips without titration, and monitor post-cardiac cath/surgery and post-MI patients.
- Perform central/PICC/peripheral line care, IV starts, and administer blood products.
- Offer non-invasive airway management including HFNC and BiPAP/CPAP.
- Conduct chest tube care and sheath removal, while monitoring procedural sedation.

Compliance / Notes
- Expect to float to like units as needed.
- One pre-approved time off per contract notes.
- Pending NM/compact license accepted but must be obtained prior to start.
- Travelers must complete required modules onsite during orientation.
