Oracle Database Operations Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Operations Engineer to support and optimize enterprise RDBMS systems in a cloud-based environment. This role is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and improving Oracle databases to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance across mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Oracle RDS, database performance tuning, and automation within DevOps pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with development teams to strengthen database architectures, coding standards, and QA policies.
- Design and implement redundant systems, disaster recovery strategies, and data archiving policies.
- Research and recommend database products, services, protocols, and standards to support future platform design and delivery.
- Administer Oracle 12c/19c databases with strong expertise in Oracle RDS.
- Monitor performance and capacity using AWS tools such as CloudWatch and Performance Insights.
- Support DevOps pipelines for automated deployments using tools such as Flyway or Liquibase.
- Perform routine maintenance including backups, recovery, and index management.
- Provide technical guidance on database design, schema modeling, and development best practices.
- Tune SQL/PL-SQL queries, stored procedures, and optimize performance using Oracle performance tools.
- Automate database management tasks with ODI, Oracle Scheduler, and related technologies.
- Deliver monitoring, reporting, and diagnostics to improve operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or 5–7 years equivalent work experience.
- Hands-on experience as an Oracle Database Engineer or DBA with Oracle 19c or newer.
- Strong SQL/PL-SQL skills including performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Proven experience resolving integrity issues, blocking/deadlocks, schema design challenges, connectivity issues, and data replication errors.
- Expertise in Oracle RDS administration within AWS environments.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively across technical and business teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Oracle 23c RDS.
- Familiarity with 3rd-party integrations and advanced reporting using SQL or Crystal Reports.
- Exposure to mobile device management and cloud-native deployments.
- Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and enterprise security practices.
