About the Position

Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience License: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC) Must-Have: ACLS, NIHSS, Charge Nurse experience, and Precepting experience Description: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Uses patient education materials relevant to patient population with assistance. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient, family, and caregivers. Recognizes developmental levels of patients and factors affecting their ability to learn. Identifies expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance as needed in revision of the plan of care. Participates in discussions with members of the interdisciplinary team regarding patient care evaluation. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Demonstrates competence in the care of patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care appropriate to the patient population. Performs bedside point of care testing as required for patient care plans. Utilizes healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in care delivery. Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs. Consults with appropriate resources in a timely manner regarding complex care issues or high-risk discharge planning. Develops goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations with assistance. Achieves goals and objectives within identified time frames or renegotiates with supervisor. Is knowledgeable about activities which facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration. Participates in the development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities. Effectively uses communication systems to inform and support patient care. Participates in promoting cost-effective care. Provides feedback to co-workers. Is aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment. Promotes a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all. Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. Includes appropriate physical, psychosocial, education, and safety needs in assessments. Synthesizes assessment data into meaningful whole prior to communication to others. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families. Develops relationships with families to promote their ability to advocate for themselves and the patient. Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update the plan of care. Utilizes multidisciplinary resources in planning care. Uses a full range of communication to convey planning. Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in patient care planning. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems. Reads journals containing studies or articles applicable to practice. Shares ideas and questions with the staff for assessment of applicability.
