Turner Industries Group is hiring a Yard Dog Driver to join our team in St. Gabriel, LA. As a Yard Dog Driver, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely movement of trailers, tankers, and shipping containers within the St. Gabriel plant yard. You will work closely with the site units, shipping, receiving, and warehouse teams to ensure seamless logistics operations while maintaining strict safety and environmental standards.

Essential Qualifications:

• High school or equivalent
• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience operating a yard tractor (yard dog/hostler) or driving a Class A CDL vehicle in an industrial, manufacturing, or distribution center environment
• Valid TWIC card required
• Valid Driver's License required
• Active Class A CDL is highly preferred
• Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check and drug screen
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold)
• Ability to frequently climb in and out of the yard truck cab, hook/unhook air lines, and crank trailer landing gear
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a fast-paced team
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, weekends, or night shifts as operational needs require
• Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
• Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Functional Requirements:

Safely operate a yard tractor (yard dog/spotter) to move, spot, and dock loaded and empty trailers/tankers to and from loading docks, staging areas, and trailer yards; Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the yard tractor and report any
maintenance issues immediately. Inspect trailers for damage or safety hazards before moving; Utilize yard management systems or paper logs to accurately track trailer locations and statuses; Coordinate closely with warehouse supervisors, shipping/receiving clerks, and gate security to prioritize moves and keep operations running smoothly; Adhere strictly to all site safety protocols, including speed limits, PPE requirements, and hazardous material handling guidelines. Maintain a clean and organized yard; Read and sign off on JSA prior to starting shift; moves hand and foot levers to control operating equipment; interprets hand signals to determine where materials are to be placed; inspect each load before pulling it to assure it will be safe in transit; may be required to manipulate equipment on un-level working surfaces; performs daily inspection such as checking oil, fluids, and tire pressure; reports any unsatisfactory findings to the foreman; observes speed limit posted and yields to pedestrians; maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Compensation

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement:

May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing / sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting ; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other PPE; stepstool use; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environment
