Senior Environmental Scientist

Job Title: Senior Environmental Scientist Energy Renewal Partners (ERP) is seeking a full-time Senior Environmental Scientist to join our team. Senior Environmental Scientists at ERP collaborate with a diverse and supportive team to participate in and lead environmental and permitting analysis of renewable energy development projects throughout the U.S. We are looking for a colleague who would like to lead, and mentor scientists and impress clients with a job well done. Responsibilities The Senior Environmental Scientist will support permitting, planning, siting, regulatory, and other tasks associated with development and implementation of renewable energy projects. Responsibilities may include any of the following: Project Leadership & Oversight Serve as Technical Lead on complex, multidisciplinary projects Oversee project scope, budget, and timelines with minimal supervision Ensure regulatory compliance and technical quality across project Deliverables Mentorship & Supervision Provide mentorship and training to junior staff, including field methods, reporting standards, and career development Review and approve technical reports and field data collected by others Delegate tasks appropriately and manage workloads of small teams Technical Expertise Be recognized as a subject matter expert in a specialty area (e.g., NEPA, ESA compliance, wetlands delineations, acoustic bat surveys) Provide QA/QA reviews and technical guidance for complex studies or assessments Conducting efficient environmental and permitting compliance reviews of renewable energy projects Completing wetland/stream delineations and other fieldwork in diverse and challenging landscapes Produce Phase I Environmental Site Assessments for large acreage projects Characterize vegetation communities and evaluate the presence of habitat for species of concern Coordinate with state and federal regulators regarding permitting requirements and permitting compliance for renewable energy projects Proficient in Writing and editing technical reports Oversight of safety measures and safe working practices Preparation of applications to agencies and regulatory entities Designing and implementing field surveys/studies for biological, avian, wetland, cultural, and other key environmental requirements for renewable energy projects Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field; master’s degree in related field a plus 7-10+ years of environmental consulting experience, experience with renewable energy permitting a plusWorking knowledge of the Clean Water Act and wetland/stream delineation methods Solid understanding of the Endangered Species Act and its effect on renewable energy development Experience conducting environmental fatal flaws/constraints analyses a plus Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adequately prioritize tasks Demonstrated planning and implementation skills Excellent written and oral communication skills to ensure effective communication with coworkers, clients, and regulators Willingness and ability to conduct overnight travel (approximately 40%) for field investigations under potentially challenging environmental conditions Ability to anticipate problems and collectively work toward solutions Location Austin, TX - Open to Remote Employment Type This is a full-time, salaried position.
