The position also performs but not limited to the following; educates patients on oral hygiene, takes radiographs, and applies fluoride and sealants. Duties/Responsibilities Cleans oral deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums using various dental instruments/equipment. Examines gums using probes to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease. Applies fluorides or other preventative agents to arrest dental decay. Takes radiographs. Records and reviews patient medical histories. Charts conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist. Develops dental hygiene treatment plans. Maintains dental equipment and sharpens and sterilizes dental instruments. Provides clinical services and oral health education to improve and maintain the oral health of patients or the general public. Answers and returns patient phone calls. Abides by all PPE standards for clinical staff. Attends, participates, and/or assists in meetings, trainings, community outreach activities, continuing education opportunities, and other activities as required. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Knowledge of general principles of dentistry and advanced knowledge of dental hygiene. Strong customer service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with individuals of various social, cultural, and educational backgrounds. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment. Ability to speak English and Spanish preferred. Education and Experience Required Associate degree in Dental Hygiene. Current Arizona Dental Hygiene Licensure. Current CPR certification. 5+ years of experience as a Licensed Dental Hygienist. Preferred Bachelor’s degree. 1+ years of pediatric dentistry experience. Other Requirements New Hires are required to pass pre-employment background check and drug testing (effective 11/1/2022).
