Position Phlebotomist 4874 Location Chesterfield, VA Schedule 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday Projected Duration 3 months, contract to hire Job Code CVDJP00034874 Pay Rate $22.15 per hour Minimum Experience 2 years Summary The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment. Update patient information and maintain specimen logs. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine, fecal) in a clear, courteous manner. Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature. Place samples in appropriate collection containers, accurately label, and follow specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. Minimum of 6 months working experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. #J-18808-Ljbffr
