Job SummaryThe Assistant Branch Manager/Operations Assistant Manager will support daily branch operations and lead drivers in their day-to-day activities to ensure timely, safe, and efficient operations. Hours and WagesMonday - Friday, 7:00AM StartMay be expected to cover variable shifts based on business needs Voluntary OT on weekends (as needed) Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per weekStarting wage: $24.00-28.00 per hour, based on experienceDuties and ResponsibilitiesWork alongside branch leadership to support daily operations ensuring all day-to-day operations are completedComplete routes for employees who are absentAssist with daily morning duties such as sorting freight, loading trucks and other duties as neededHelp track and update daily department reports Assist with monitoring compliance with safety, DOT, and company policiesMonitor freight flow and route performance; escalate issues or irregularities to leadershipRecommend and implement measures to improve productivity, equipment performance, work methods, and customer serviceParticipate weekly operational meetingsProvide feedback to management regarding performance evaluations, attendance or safety concernsAssist in training and onboarding of new staffTravel may be requiredPerform other required duties as assignedSkills and AbilitiesAbility to build, motivate, and lead a high performing teamExcellent management skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsThorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local and company safety policiesStrong organizational and project management skills, including meeting deadlines and achieving resultsEducation and ExperienceAt least 21 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate's degree in Business Management, Logistics or Operations Management or related field preferred1+ years of experience in the transportation industry and leadership preferredPhysical RequirementsAbility to pass a DOT physical examAbility to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and up to 100 pounds occasionallyAbility to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animalsBenefitsHealth Insurance, Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) Plan, Quarterly Bonuses, and more.EEO and Affirmative Action StatementSpee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
