Arthrex isactively searching for a student pursuing a Plastics Engineering degree to support the Injection Molding Engineering team in Pendleton, SC. The Injection Molding Engineering department is responsible for supporting and developing new and existing injection molding products. The successful candidate will perform robust mold trials on existing tools to optimize processes and support validation activities. The role will be project based as well as support for current continuous improvement activities. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Pendleton, SC facility. Main Objective: To understand the process engineering role as well as partially scope and execute challenging projects that result in improvement for Arthrex. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conversion of MDS to MDM (machine to plastic variable processes). Complete capability studies on plastic variable processes. Work with team on floor for Engineering starts. Assist in completing Installation Qualifications (IQ), Operational Qualifications (OQ) and Performance Qualifications (PQ). Assist in completing First Article Inspection (FAI) processes. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering Technology or related discipline or a recent graduate in Plastics Engineering Technology or related discipline required. Junior or senior preferred. Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify. Experience with decoupled molding development required. Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training: Basic to intermediate computer skills. Be able to follow written and verbal direction. Knowledge of injection molding machine interface capability required. Knowledge of modeling and statistical tools, including MATLAB, SolidWorks, MiniTab preferred. Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills: PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
