Schedule: 06:00 am - 2:30 pm (5x8; Every Other Weekend Coverage)
Pay Rate: $2600/Week for 40hrs/week
$65/hr (W2) | $69/hr (1099) Position Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our acute care hospital’s laboratory team.
In this role, you will serve as a G eneralist , performing a wide range of diagnostic tests and analyses across chemistry, hematology, blood bank, urinalysis, and limited microbiology. You will be the sole CLS on duty per shift , requiring the ability to work independently, make sound judgments, and maintain high accuracy in all laboratory functions. This position offers the opportunity to work in a 25-bed hospital with a 9-bed emergency department , serving a diverse patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. Key Responsibilities

• Perform generalist laboratory testing in chemistry, hematology/coagulation, urinalysis, immunology/serology, microbiology, and blood bank.
• Independently manage laboratory operations during assigned shifts.
• Conduct blood bank procedures, including Type & Screen, PEG/AHG, electronic/IS/full crossmatches, DAT, and Rhogam screening.
• Perform limited microbiology, including Gram stains and PCR testing (BioFire, Roche Liat).
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as Siemens Vista, Sysmex XN 500, Radiometer ABL90, and Stago Compact Max.
• Follow established protocols for specimen collection, accessioning, processing, and quality control.
• Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and quality assurance standards.
• Accurately document and report results in Epic Beaker LIS and WellSky Blood Bank.

Required Qualifications

• Licensure: California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license.
• Certifications: ASCP, ASCP MT, or ASCP-MLS certification preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent CLS experience; community hospital experience preferred.
• Proficiency in general chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, immunology, and blood bank procedures.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Prior experience in a similar acute care hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Siemens Vista, Sysmex XN systems, and molecular diagnostic platforms.
• Familiarity with WellSky Blood Bank software and Epic Beaker charting.
