Job Overview The Tool Room Attendant supports fabrication operations by ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are properly maintained, organized, and available to the shop floor. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment by issuing tools, monitoring equipment condition, and assisting with basic welding and fabrication support tasks as needed. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to recognize equipment or material issues that could impact production or quality. Key Job Responsibilities Operates Safely and is an advocate for Safety Welds load path components in flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions. Ignites torches or starts power supplies and strikes arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits. Clamps, holds, tack-welds, heat-bends, and grinds load path component parts. Detects faulty operation of equipment and defective materials; notifies supervisors. Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments. Monitors the fitting burning and welding process to avoid overheating of parts, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material. Examines work pieces for defects and measures material with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications. Recognizes, sets up, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
