Job Summary
The Paramedic will be responsible for responding to medical emergencies, conducting advanced patient assessments, providing Advanced Life Support (ALS), stabilizing critically ill or injured patients, and coordinating transportation to appropriate healthcare facilities when necessary.
The successful candidate will work closely with Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), nurses, physicians, occupational health professionals, workplace safety teams, and local emergency services to provide timely and effective emergency medical care.
This position requires strong clinical assessment skills, excellent critical-thinking abilities, and the capacity to make rapid decisions in high-pressure and unpredictable situations.
Key Responsibilities
The Paramedic may work in a variety of environments, including occupational health clinics, emergency response vehicles, ambulances, agricultural fields, processing plants, warehouses, and outdoor locations.
The position may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, changing weather conditions, dust, noise, agricultural chemicals, machinery, and physically demanding emergency situations. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be provided.
The role requires physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying emergency equipment, and assisting with patient movement and transportation.
Flexible scheduling may be required, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, extended shifts, and on-call assignments.

Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies, workplace injuries, accidents, and other emergency situations at agricultural and production facilities.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine the nature and severity of illnesses or injuries.
- Provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) and emergency medical interventions within the authorized paramedic scope of practice.
- Perform advanced airway management and provide ventilatory support when required.
- Administer emergency medications and intravenous fluids according to established protocols and medical direction.
- Establish and maintain intravenous (IV) and intraosseous (IO) access when clinically appropriate.
- Perform cardiac monitoring and interpret electrocardiograms (ECGs/EKGs).
- Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), defibrillation, and advanced cardiac life support interventions.
- Assess and treat patients experiencing trauma, respiratory emergencies, cardiac events, allergic reactions, seizures, diabetic emergencies, and other serious medical conditions.
- Provide emergency treatment for workplace injuries, including severe wounds, burns, fractures, chemical exposure, heat-related illnesses, and machinery-related injuries.
- Stabilize patients and prepare them for safe transportation to hospitals, trauma centers, or other appropriate healthcare facilities.
- Continuously monitor patient condition and adjust emergency interventions as necessary.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with EMTs, nurses, physicians, emergency departments, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide clear and accurate patient handoff reports to receiving medical teams.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatments, medications, procedures, and emergency response activities.
- Inspect and maintain emergency medical equipment, medications, vehicles, and response supplies.
- Ensure emergency equipment and medical supplies are properly stocked and ready for immediate use.
- Follow infection-control procedures, patient confidentiality requirements, workplace safety standards, and emergency medical protocols.
- Participate in emergency preparedness drills, employee first-aid training, and workplace safety programs.
- Collaborate with occupational health and safety teams to identify workplace hazards and improve emergency response procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in Emergency Medical Services, Paramedicine, or a related field preferred.
- Successful completion of an accredited Paramedic training program.
- Current and unrestricted state Paramedic license or certification.
- National Registry Paramedic (NRP) certification preferred or required according to applicable state regulations.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Paramedic in emergency medical services, ambulance operations, emergency departments, or occupational health settings preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Advanced Life Support (ALS), emergency medicine, trauma care, and patient stabilization.
- Proficiency in advanced airway management, cardiac monitoring, ECG interpretation, medication administration, and intravenous therapy.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and rapid decision-making abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and perform effectively in high-pressure emergency situations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary emergency response team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate medical documentation.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record if operating emergency response vehicles is required.
- Current Paramedic License or Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- CPR Certification
- Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification.
- Experience working in occupational health, industrial EMS, workplace emergency response, or rural emergency services.
- Experience responding to emergencies involving agricultural equipment, heavy machinery, chemicals, and outdoor environments.
- Knowledge of occupational safety, emergency preparedness, and workplace health regulations.
- Experience managing heat-related illnesses, dehydration, chemical exposure, and agricultural workplace injuries.
- Familiarity with OSHA or applicable occupational health and safety requirements.
- Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
