After School Teacher Silver Sage Y Kids

Our Silver Sage Y Kids program at Silver Sage Elementary is seeking After School Teachers to join the team! This individual is responsible for creating an environment with a teaching team that promotes each childs development and supports children and their familys diverse needs and interest.

The Treasure Valley Family YMCAs Child Development programs support children in their ongoing growth to ensure that they are ready for the next educational milestone whether that be preschool kindergarten middle school or high school.

Schedule:

This is a part-time position averaging 15 hours per week through the school year. Schedule requirements are 3:30pm-6:00pm Monday through Friday through the school year. Pay is $15.45-$19.31/hour.

Responsibilities:

• Create an environment that fosters safety though active supervision and by role modeling safe behavior.
• Nurture children through purposeful programs dedicated to building relationships achievement and belonging.
• Develop intentional relationships and maintain effective daily communication with participants and parents.
• Implement the established curriculum.
• Use positive behavior guidance techniques to support childrens appropriate development and behavior.
• Monitor and ensure the health and safety of participants families staff and volunteers by following and implementing Child Development Branch approved Leading Practices.
• Use Y Core Values developmentally appropriate practices and effective teaching strategies to support each childs unique background needs and different learning styles.
• Maintain an indoor and outdoor environment that is well equipped organized safe clean and welcoming. The environment is created based on the belief that all children learn best through play positive adult interaction and hands on open-ended experiences.

Qualifications:

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Minimum 1 year working with children is preferred.
• Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
• Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
• Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive adaptable professional andarticulate when dealing with others.

Required Licensure and/or certifications:

• Idaho State Childcare License Prerequisite upon hire 14-day compliance period.
• Pediatric CPR/AED Prerequisite upon hire 14-day compliance period.
• First Aid Prerequisite upon hire 14-day compliance period.
