Events Coordinator

Politicsand Prose Bookstore is looking for an Events Coordinator. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) hourly, non-exempt position that reports to the Director of Events.This willbe based at the Connecticut Avenue store but will also travel to The Wharf, Union Market, and offsite event venues as needed. Duties will include but are not limited to: Assist with adult event related tasks Create and maintain event listings for website and internal calendars Assist with event set-up and take down for in-store events Communicate with publicists and authors to coordinate events Coordinate with the marketing department to assist with social media assets Coordinate with other departments about adult events Monitor and manage the events email inbox Assist with book orders and ensure they are available on time Maintain events department spreadsheets, documents, analytics, and metrics Work on the bookstore sales floor during the holiday season and other high volume times Requirements: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organization and prioritization skills A cooperative spirit and positive attitude Able to work collaboratively and independently Comfortable learning new technology Ability to work evenings and weekends Flexibility, especially in regards to schedule Ability to lift and carry at least 40 lbs. Experience with MS Office, Outlook, Google Forms, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Zoom, Eventbrite, and Square preferred Compensation and benefits: The wage for this position is $19.55 to $21.05 per hour depending on relevant experience. Full-time non-exempt employees accrue 10 days of paid leave and six days of paid sick leave a year. Full-time employees receive five paid holidays per year. Health insurance including dental and vision available for employees who work more than 30 hours a week. Full-time employees have the option to invest in an IRA that the company will match up to 3%.
