Data Scientist

Salary: $105,000 - 290,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a BS or BA in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• We require experience applying AI/ML, natural language processing, statistical analysis, or similar technical methods to real-world problems.
• We require experience building dependable software, preferably in Python, and contributing to shared codebases using sound software engineering practices.
• We require comfort working from loosely defined or high-level requirements.
• We require strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational abilities.
• We require the ability to manage priorities across multiple dynamic projects supporting evolving national security needs.
• We require demonstrated initiative and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• We require strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical ideas to audiences with different technical backgrounds.
• We require an active TS/SCI security clearance and eligibility for access to classified information, including U.S. citizenship.
• Preferred: we value an MS or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Preferred: we value experience designing and developing AI/ML approaches for interdisciplinary problems.
• Preferred: we value experience architecting, implementing, and testing prototype software intended for sustained team use.
• Preferred: we value experience communicating technical findings and recommendations to sponsors, leadership, or other decision makers.

• We develop, evaluate, and refine technical approaches to challenging, non-routine problems involving artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and related technologies.
• We design and contribute to prototype software that collects, processes, and analyzes data from sources ranging from the open web to authoritative ontologies and knowledge graphs.
• We research, explore, and develop innovative techniques and technologies in artificial intelligence.
• We assess the strengths, limitations, and tradeoffs of technical approaches and help teammates and sponsors understand how to improve, extend, or adapt them to new problems.
• We communicate ideas, methods, and results clearly through papers, presentations, and discussions with technical staff, leadership, and government decision makers.
