advanced respiratory modalities in an inpatient post-acute care setting. Collaborate your respiratory

skills with those of our specialized Medical, Nursing and Rehab teams. All to help the medically complex

child improve lung function, overcome the challenge of chronic disabilities, and lead a more fulfilled life

one breath at a time.

Shifts: Day 8 AM to 8:30 PM; Night 8 PM to 8:30 AM

Compensation: $49.00 – $56.00/ hr.

Full time; Part time; Per Diem

 

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an associate degree program in Respiratory Therapy approved by the New York

State Board of Education or a program determined equivalent in accordance with the Commissioner

of the State Board of Educations regulations,

Currently licensed to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of New York,

Currently registered as a Respiratory Therapist issued by the National Board of Respiratory Care.

• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators, chest physiotherapy devices, oxygen administration equipment, and artificial airways.

• Determine requirements for treatment, such as type, methods and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken, and medication and dosages, compatible with physician’s orders.

• Read physicians’ orders and review resident’s information to assess resident’s condition.

• Monitor resident’s physiological responses to therapy such as vital signs, and consult with physician if adverse reactions occur.

• Enforce safety rules and ensure careful adherence to physicians’ orders.

• Monitor equipment par levels and notify management when replenishment is required

• Inspect, clean, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently and notify manager/supervisor when repairs are necessary.

• Educate residents and/or their families about their condition and teach appropriate disease management techniques such as breathing exercises, the use of medications, and respiratory equipment.

• Perform broncho-pulmonary drainage and pulmonary hygiene.

• Provide emergency care, including artificial ventilation, CPR, and general assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

• Complete all required respiratory therapy competency tests within specified timeline.

• Responsible for accurate completion and documentation of all Respiratory Therapy modalities performed.

• Responsible for accurate “Hand off” of resident information to the incoming staff.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Graduate of an AMA approved school of respiratory care accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)

• 1-year experience in respiratory therapy preferred but new graduates will be considered.

• Experience working with pediatric populations is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURE:

• Current and valid New York State license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner required.

• Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.'
