Position Overview

Tots to Teens Furniture & Rainbow Play of NC is seeking a motivated, sales-driven professional to join our team as a Sales Manager in Training .

This position is designed for an ambitious individual who has a demonstrated ability to achieve sales goals, build strong customer relationships, motivate others, and develop into a successful retail sales leader.

Our company specializes in premium nursery furniture, baby gear, children's and teen furniture, wooden play systems, trampolines, basketball goals, and related products and services. We pride ourselves on delivering a personalized shopping experience backed by knowledgeable sales professionals and exceptional customer service.

As a Sales Manager in Training, you will work directly with company leadership to develop the skills necessary to oversee daily sales performance, support and coach team members, manage customer relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of both businesses.

This is a hands-on sales and leadership position. The successful candidate must be willing to lead by example, actively sell alongside the team, take accountability for results, and continuously develop their management abilities.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Performance & Accountability

• Consistently achieve and strive to exceed individual sales goals.
• Help drive team sales performance and overall company revenue.
• Track customer opportunities, quotes, follow-ups, and sales results.
• Identify opportunities to improve sales conversion and customer retention.
• Demonstrate effective consultative selling, objection handling, and closing techniques.
• Promote a results-driven sales environment while maintaining exceptional customer service.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead by example through strong sales performance, professionalism, and accountability.
• Motivate and support team members in achieving their individual sales goals.
• Assist with training and coaching employees on product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer interactions.
• Recognize performance challenges and help implement improvement strategies.
• Develop the ability to provide constructive feedback and hold team members accountable.
• Work closely with ownership and leadership to develop management and decision-making skills.

Customer Experience & Sales Management

• Build lasting relationships with customers through attentive service and knowledgeable recommendations.
• Assist customers with premium furniture, baby gear, play systems, and other high-value purchases.
• Provide accurate product information, pricing, quotes, financing information, and estimated fulfillment timelines.
• Maintain timely communication with prospective and existing customers.
• Resolve customer concerns professionally while following company policies.
• Ensure sales transactions, custom orders, and customer documentation are completed accurately.

Business Operations & Development

• Learn company procedures for processing orders, coordinating with manufacturers, and managing customer fulfillment.
• Assist with maintaining an organized, attractive, and professional showroom.
• Support daily store operations, merchandising, and customer service activities.
• Develop an understanding of delivery, installation, and product service coordination.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and business growth.
• Gradually assume additional management responsibilities as training and performance progress.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail sales, preferably in furniture, home furnishings, specialty retail, or other consultative sales environments.
• Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales expectations.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer relationship skills.
• Confidence in coaching, motivating, and supporting others.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on customer commitments.
• Comfortable learning new products, procedures, and sales technology.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a professional approach to customer concerns.
• Willingness to accept feedback, take initiative, and develop into a leadership position.
• Availability to work a full-time retail schedule, including Saturdays.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Sales Lead, Assistant Manager, Department Manager, or Sales Manager.
• Experience tracking sales goals, sales conversion, and team performance.
• Experience selling high-value or special-order products.
• Familiarity with POS systems, customer relationship management, and sales reporting.
• Experience training new employees or coaching sales associates.
