We are seeking a talented and versatile Audio and Video Equipment Technician to join our bilingual podcast and video production studio in Norwalk, CT.

This is an in-person position. Candidates must live within commuting distance of our Norwalk studio and be able to travel to on-site sessions and live events. This is not a remote role.

Selection is contingent on a successful background check, conducted in accordance with local law and regulations.

This role handles production editing, routine maintenance, and the installation, configuration, operation, teardown, and troubleshooting of audio-visual equipment. You will also help podcasters develop production standards so that every element and asset reflects their brand or theme.

You will coordinate the many moving parts of a production, including editing, audio, camera work, music, lighting, microphones, sound mixing, live switching, recording, and videoconferencing for live events and meetings, as well as create video content for podcast promotion and distribution. You will use production techniques such as graphics, viewer pictures, and webcam interviews.

The ideal candidate is passionate about audio and video production, highly organized, an excellent communicator with clients, and proficient in both audio and video editing software.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with podcast hosts and guests to develop episode ideas and outlines, and ask the right questions to understand their needs and expected deliverables.
• Serve as a friendly, professional point of contact for clients and guests during sessions, keeping them comfortable on camera and addressing technical questions or concerns in real time.
• Collaborate on calendar management to coordinate recording sessions.
• Set up, operate, and tear down studio and live-event equipment, including multi-camera switching with the Blackmagic ATEM and audio mixing and recording with the RODECaster Pro II.
• Design, set up, and adjust studio lighting for each production so that subjects are well lit and the look matches the client's brand.
• Record and edit podcast episodes, ensuring high-quality audio and content.
• Produce video content such as teasers, clips, highlight reels, and promotional videos for podcast episodes.
• Edit and optimize video content for various platforms (e.g., YouTube, Rumble, social media).
• Manage post-production for both audio and video, including mixing, mastering, and video editing.
• Use AI tools to streamline post-production and content repurposing, such as transcripts, captions, clips, and episode summaries, and review all AI output for accuracy and quality before delivery.
• Create and implement a publishing schedule for podcast audio and video content.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of studio equipment.

Requirements

• Must be able to work in person at our Norwalk, CT studio and travel to on-site sessions within the surrounding area. Remote work is not available.
• Associate or technical degree (or equivalent experience).
• 2-3 years of related experience.
• Strong client-facing communication skills: comfortable greeting clients and guests, asking clarifying questions to understand their goals and expected deliverables, explaining technical concepts in plain language, and following up professionally.
• Proficiency in audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Hindenburg, Pro Tools, DaVinci Resolve/Fairlight).
• Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut).
• Hands-on experience with a Blackmagic ATEM switcher (live switching, inputs/outputs, and routing).
• Hands-on experience with the RODECaster Pro II (channel setup, routing, sound pads, and multitrack recording).
• Working knowledge of studio lighting setup and how illumination works, including key, fill, and back light placement, light intensity and color temperature, and lighting for on-camera subjects.
• Proficiency in Riverside.fm.
• Proficiency in Zoom Webinars (desirable).
• Knowledge of Sony cameras (ZV-E10 or other Sony models).
• Strong troubleshooting skills for audio/video equipment and live-production issues.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Understands the value of building and maintaining professional networks.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines and schedules.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling and multimedia production.
• Comfortable using AI-powered production tools (e.g., automated transcription and captioning, audio cleanup and enhancement, auto-generated clips, and generative AI assistants for show notes, titles, and descriptions) to speed up workflows, with all output reviewed by a person for quality and brand voice, is a plus.
• Experience with podcast distribution platforms (e.g., Transistor.fm, Libsyn, Podbean) and video platforms (e.g., YouTube, Rumble) is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus for communicating with our clients.
• A portfolio showcasing podcast projects and video editing work is highly desirable.
• Trustworthy, confident, and reliable.

Job Type: On-Call, In-Person
Location: Norwalk, CT (on-site; must be within commuting distance)
Pay: $20 to $30 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on work experience, market conditions, and skill level.
