Friends Of Sherrod Brown: Press Secretary

Friends Of Sherrod Brown Communications Department is seeking a dedicated and driven Press Secretary to join our team. This role is a great opportunity to gain principal management skills, on the road experience, and work directly with the Ohio press corps.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with the Ohio press corps to serve as the key point of contact for in-state press
• Staff and advise Sherrod Brown on the campaign trail at events across the state
• Assist in the planning and execution of campaign media events, including prepping and staffing campaign surrogates
• Draft press releases, talking points, memos, and other external and internal campaign communications materials
• Pitch Sherrod Brown for press in-state and nationally
• Occasionally serve as an on the record spokesperson for the campaign
• Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• 2 cycles of campaign communications experience, or a relevant equivalent
• Strong ability to write and edit materials on a tight deadline
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail, an ability to work under tight deadlines
• On the record experience with reporters preferred
• A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new things
