Job Summary The Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC), a National Cancer Institute‑designated Comprehensive Cancer Center affiliated with UT Southwestern Medical Center, is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Cellular Therapy and Blood Cancers Inpatient clinic. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant serves as a key clinical provider within a highly specialized, multidisciplinary team, working closely with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and support staff. This role involves comprehensive management of patients with hematologic malignancies, including leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and myelodysplastic syndromes, many of whom are receiving intensive chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and cellular therapies. Responsibilities include performing detailed patient assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, managing treatment‑related toxicities, performing bedside procedures (lumbar punctures and bone marrow biopsies), and coordinating care throughout the inpatient stay. The APP plays a critical role in clinical decision‑making, patient education, and ensuring continuity of care in a high‑acuity environment. Scheduled Hours Variable 12‑hour shifts, including weekends and holidays. Ideal candidates will have 2+ years of cellular therapy & blood cancer experience, including bone marrow biopsies and lumbar puncture procedural experience. New graduates with prior nursing experience or those who completed applicable clinical rotations may be considered. Education Master’s degree or higher in nursing, completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program, and Texas Board of Nursing authorization consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. Or Graduate of a Master’s degree or higher accredited Physician Assistant program (ARC‑PA). Licenses and Certifications Licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (CPNP‑AC) by the Texas State Board of Nursing, with prescriptive authority granted by the Texas Board of Nursing. Or Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification by the American Heart Association or Red Cross, as required by UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers. Job Duties Conduct and document comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status. Synthesize data and utilize evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results. Demonstrate proficiency in technical/procedural skills appropriate to specialty and training. Provide relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding current care and preventive health measures. Facilitate participation in quality‑related initiatives through group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings to improve clinical and system practice performance. Collaborate on research projects and protocols; routinely apply evidence‑based best practices to patient care. Perform other duties as assigned.
