Nurse Program Manager Radiation Oncology Research

Job Title Nurse Program Manager for Radiation Oncology Research Site The Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Inc. (Mass General Brigham) Overview The Nurse Program Manager for Radiation Oncology Research provides leadership in the design, implementation and evaluation of radiation oncology research and services, primarily in Brigham and Women’s radiation oncology network locations, with support across the MGB Radiation Oncology enterprise as requested. The Nurse Program Manager will function as a key facilitator for the radiation oncologists in the growth and development of the clinical research program for all BWH/DFBCC Network Radiation Oncology departments. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Oversees and manages Radiation Oncology Network Research program as directed by the Vice Chair of Research, Radiation Oncology. Works closely with MDs, RNs, and clinical staff to identify and support research needs. Provides input on resource acquisition and feasibility of new clinical trials. Provides nursing and clinical expertise to investigators. Develops databases and provides progress reports; utilization of existing databases (e.g., PROMPTs). Collaborates with national research groups (e.g., RTOG, CALGB) and other research protocol sponsors. Educates investigators, nurses and clinical staff on protocols, procedures, requirements and regulations; ensures compliance (CITI training, etc.). Monitors adherence to OHRS policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Collaborates with Vice Chair of Research to develop and implement quality control guidelines aligned with GCP and national cooperative group standards. Provides clinical support for patients enrolling on protocols in Radiation Oncology Network locations, including patient identification, study requirements, protocol education and coordination with the medical team. Collaborates with study teams to identify and mitigate potential barriers to ensure study data is captured and analyzed in a timely and effective manner and enrollment targets are met. Provides in-service education and serves as a resource to the healthcare team. Collaborates with Vice Chair to determine the need for additional research staff. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, orienting and supervising research staff for the network. Develops systems to ensure optimal communication between all relevant research entities. Leads Network Research Committee and staff meetings. Serves as liaison to the BWH Radiation Oncology department in Boston, works closely with the BWH Clinical Research Supervisor and departmental research nurses and data managers. Serves as liaison to the DFCI NLAPS office and to the DFPCC/DFHCC Network Research Manager. Serves as Network Radiation Oncology liaison to the DFHCC/DFPCC Network Research Office, Office for Human Studies Research and Institutional Review Board. Maintains a high degree of awareness of the current scientific state and advancements in relation to the DFCI/HCC Network Radiation Oncology Research program; attends relevant symposia, scientific meetings, training sessions, workshops and journal review. Participates in teleconferences and meetings regarding operations, study metrics, enrollment and deliverables for all DFHCC Network Radiation Oncology Research sites. Develops project status reports and communicates with teams and funding partners as needed on behalf of the Network radiation oncologists. Summary Responsible for overseeing and managing specific nursing programs or services. This position involves coordinating nursing staff, implementing program initiatives, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in alignment with organizational goals. Essential Functions Lead the development and implementation of clinical programs or services, ensuring alignment with the hospital's mission and strategic objectives. Provide leadership and supervision to nursing staff within the program. Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, standards, and regulatory requirements. Supervise and mentor nursing staff, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and nursing assistants. Collaborate with healthcare professionals from various disciplines to provide comprehensive care within the program. Develop and implement patient and family education programs within the clinical program. Ensure nursing practices within the clinical program comply with all relevant healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and hospital policies. Qualifications Current Massachusetts licensure as a registered nurse required. Degree requirements: MSN, MS with a major in Nursing, DNP, or PhD with a major in Nursing, or a BSN with a Master's degree in a related field. Two to five years of experience in Oncology, clinical research, or Radiation Oncology required. One year of leadership experience required. Radiation oncology experience highly preferred. OCN certification preferred. Skills and Abilities Possesses complex expert knowledge and skill to achieve all aspects of role requirements. Thorough understanding of cancer disease process and treatment, good knowledge of scientific principles. Thorough understanding of clinical research methodology. Knowledge of local and federal regulatory requirements. Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional, multidepartment, collaborative role. Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills. Computer literacy required including research-related software. Evidence of grantsmanship skills. Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication skills. Working Conditions Travel to multiple locations on a variable schedule weekly; mandatory to Milford, Mansfield, Weymouth, and Boston. Works in patient care environments where there is potential exposure to communicable disease and hazardous materials. Supervisory Responsibility Potential to have supervisory responsibility for network research staff. Additional Job Details Remote Type: Onsite. Work Location: 45 Francis Street. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40. Employee Type: Regular. Work Shift: Day. Pay Range: $96,886.40 - $140,899.20 per annum.
