RN - Stepdown

Med/Tele/PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Med/Tele/PCU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team in a stepdown unit. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients requiring progressive cardiac services while ensuring a patient-centered approach.

Unit Information

Unit Type: Stepdown

Number of Beds: 32

Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4-5, occasionally 5-6 on nights, PCU level care overflow 1:3

Common Diagnoses:

• Adults and geriatrics
• Cardiac conditions including cardiac caths, EP studies, and pacemakers
• ETOH and COVID related conditions
• General surgical patients with heart history
• Medical patients with cardiac history, pneumonia, acute on chronic conditions, and sepsis

Job Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate and competent patient care in a progressive cardiac unit.
• Monitor vital signs and assess patient conditions regularly.
• Administer medications and initiate titration of drips as necessary.
• Read and interpret cardiac strips; report any significant changes to the physician.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop individualized care plans.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.

Qualifications

Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a PCU or similar setting

Required Certifications:

• ACLS
• BLS

Preferred Experience:

• Tele/cardiac RN experience
• Epic electronic medical record system is a plus

Work Environment

Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7a-7p, 7p-7a); rotating shifts will not exceed more than once a week.

Weekend and Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend and holiday

Floating Requirements: Will assist in all areas as needed, including full patient loads in the PCU or Medical Surgical unit and some ER holds.

Orientation: 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation upon hire.

Scrubs: Any color scrubs; scrubs are not provided.
