Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Peoria, Illinois.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Med Surg\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 09/28/2026\n Duration: 15 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 28, 2026\n Length: 15 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 15-week night shift assignment requiring an active IL RN license and at least 1 year of experience.Details\n \n Acute care Med/Surg unit with 29 beds, mixture of private and semi-private rooms\n Typical census of 22-26 patients with a target of 25\n Nurse-to-patient ratios of 4-5:1 on days and 5-6:1 on nights\n Patient population includes GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, COVID, comfort measures, osteomyelitis, falls, DVT, and pulmonary embolisms\n RNs required to titrate Heparin drips only\n 24-hour Charge RN and Crisis RN coverage, with administrative supervisor available as a resource\n 24-hour PCT coverage with a 1:10 PCT-to-patient ratio\n No ventilators on unit; patients may require oxygen up to 6L NC or stable BiPAP/CPAP\n Telemetry monitored remotely via house-wide department using Phillips equipment\n Unit clerk coverage available 24 hours\n EPIC EMR used, no prior experience required\n 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with shift report at 7a and 7p\n Every other weekend required, with nightshift weekend as Fri/Sat\n Holidays rotated\n No call or standby requirements\n Travel RNs float first to other similar med/surg units, not to ICU or chemo patients\n Requirements\n \n Active IL RN license required\n BLS certification required\n Minimum 1 year of RN experience required\n EPIC EMR experience preferred but not required\n BSN not required\n Must be able to attempt IV starts using unit resources as needed\n Additional Information\n \n Provide direct patient care for a wide range of medical diagnoses on an acute Med/Surg unit\n Utilize inpatient phlebotomy team for blood draws\n Receive 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation\n Any color scrubs accepted, staff must provide their own, pediatric scrubs not permitted\n COVID vaccination is not required for this facility\n Local candidates accepted with adjusted pay rate for those within 50 miles of the facility\n No radius restriction for eligibility\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-755006.
