Exceptional Children Teacher Position#343142 Starting Date: Aug 4, 2026 Job Description Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an approved education program in subject area. North Carolina teaching license. Nature of Work: To plan, instruct, and organize instructional environments which help students learn subject matter and skills contributing to educational and social development. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Constantly monitor safety and well‑being of students, especially during inclusive activities. Motivate students. Maintain a clean and orderly environment. Perform general clerical duties. Maintain order and discipline in classroom. Operate common office machines. Maintain basic files and records. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships as needed. Essential Job Functions Have materials, supplies, and equipment ready at lesson start; begin class and get students on task quickly, maintaining high time‑on‑task. Use established rules and procedures for routine administration, student verbal participation, and classroom movement; monitor student behavior during activities and transitions; address inappropriate behavior promptly and consistently while respecting student dignity. Begin each lesson with review of previous materials, introduce objectives, speak fluently and precisely, present concepts in student‑friendly language, provide relevant examples and demonstrations, assign tasks with a high success rate, ask appropriate questions, and conduct the lesson at a brisk pace, adjusting as needed to avoid slowdowns. Maintain clear work standards and due dates; circulate during class to check performance; use oral, written, and other products to monitor progress; pose questions clearly one at a time. Provide feedback on in‑class work to encourage growth; give prompt feedback on assigned out‑of‑class work; affirm correct responses and provide sustaining feedback on incorrect or no responses. Develop instructional plans aligned with school and system‑wide curriculum goals; use assessment data to develop and revise objectives and tasks; keep accurate records of student performance; match instructional plans to student needs and appropriate difficulty level; utilize available resources. Treat all students fairly and equitably; interact effectively with students, coworkers, parents, and community. Carry out non‑instructional duties as assigned; adhere to laws, policies, rules, and regulations; pursue professional development and demonstrate growth.
