This opportunity is ideal for a pharmacist with hospital and research experience, skilled in IV preparation and cleanroom protocols. The position supports a research hospital's mission by safely preparing medications and providing expert pharmacological guidance within a multidisciplinary healthcare and research setting. It offers a contract assignment for 6 weeks, full time, with flexible schedule options.
Location: New York, NY
Schedule Options:
- Full-Time: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
- Part-Time: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Term: 6 weeks (Contract)
- Prepare and dispense medications for both research and standard care by reviewing and interpreting physician orders, ensuring therapeutic accuracy.
- Oversee compounding, packaging, labeling, and dispensing of pharmaceutical products compliant with sterile procedures and research protocols.
- Monitor drug therapies, recommend interventions, and provide pharmacological counsel to healthcare professionals and researchers.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and verify accuracy in their preparation and documentation tasks.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards set by NYSBP, TJC, NYDOH, DEA, FDA, NIH, among others, including controlled substance management and investigational drug inventories.
- Participate in clinical research meetings and support the education of hospital staff on pharmacological and research developments.
- Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and maintain sterile product preparation areas following cleanroom standards.
- NY Pharmacist license in good standing.
- Minimum 2 years hospital pharmacy experience, including sterile preparations and IV compounding in a cleanroom environment.
- Proficiency with hospital EHR systems such as Cerner or EPIC, including drug order entries and inventory controls.
- Experience with automated drug dispensing machines and controlled drug dispensing in hospitals.
- Ability to interpret clinical trial protocols and dispense drugs according to strict guidelines independently.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain pharmacy records and write dispensing procedures.
- Research experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Certification in sterile/non-sterile compounding (BCSCP) preferred or willingness to obtain.
