YOUR SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent performs support duties related to processing Social Security disability claims. Conducts courtesy interactions with claimants, representatives, the general public, and coworkers. Serves as a receptionist on a rotation basis, greeting visitors, maintaining sign‑in/sign‑out logs, receiving packages, and routing them to the appropriate destination. Handles incoming calls, ensuring they are routed correctly and timely to the appropriate examiner, supervisor, or other staff member. Maintains knowledge of the division’s organizational structure and the disability case process at both intake and examiner levels. Utilizes SSA and DDS software to associate medical, functional, and vocational evidence with pending disability claims and uploads documents. Uploads MER from CDs, creates barcode pages, validates evidence, scans medical documents, and reviews scanned documents for accuracy. Sorts and prepares batch overnight documents for distribution and mailing.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective communication. Ability to understand written and verbal communications in both English and Spanish. Ability to translate written and verbal information between English and Spanish. Identification of errors or problems and notification of appropriate staff. Operation of general office automation equipment (computer, fax, copier, printer, scanner). Knowledge of scanning operations and electronic file setup. Basic knowledge of the SSA Legacy system, MER generation, invoice processing, CE generation, and scheduling. Planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments. Effective communication skills. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.

QUALIFICATIONS

Good oral and written communication skills are required. Preference will be given to applicants with bilingual language abilities (English and Spanish).
