First Call – The Direct Hire Division is seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity with an established manufacturing company in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

The Electrical Controls Engineer will support manufacturing operations by developing, maintaining, and improving controls, testing, and assembly processes. This position will work hands-on with production equipment, test equipment, PLC/HMI systems, and electrical systems while supporting equipment reliability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Program, modify, troubleshoot, and support PLC/HMI systems for production and test equipment.
• Support controls and electrical systems throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Develop and maintain testing protocols, test equipment specifications, data collection programs, and best practices.
• Support the design, development, fabrication, validation, installation, and troubleshooting of production and test equipment.
• Develop interfaces between SQL databases and production systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform root-cause and failure analysis.
• Ensure electrical systems and test equipment comply with electrical safe-work practices, OSHA requirements, and applicable safety standards.
• Identify and address potential equipment and electrical safety hazards.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, safety, product design, suppliers, and other cross-functional teams.
• Support capital equipment selection and implementation for new products and process improvements.
• Participate in cost-reduction and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Utilize Lean and Six Sigma tools to help solve manufacturing problems.
• Support projects involving equipment upgrades, controls technology, manufacturing information systems, and factory-floor test systems.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of four (4) years of Controls Engineering and/or Test Engineering experience.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC and HMI systems.
• Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley controls and software, including RSLogix and Studio 5000.
• Experience with FactoryTalk View ME and/or FactoryTalk View SE.
• Ability to modify and troubleshoot PLC programs.
• Understanding of safety systems design and electrical safety practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Experience

• RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, and RSLogix 5000.
• ControlLogix and/or CompactLogix.
• FactoryTalk View ME/SE and PanelView.
• SQL database integration with manufacturing or production systems.
• Manufacturing test equipment and automated test systems.
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Capital equipment and continuous-improvement projects.

Location & Relocation

This position is based in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Candidates must currently reside within the immediate geographic area or be willing to relocate within approximately 50 miles of Waukesha.
