Location: Austin, TX (float role covering the surrounding area) | Schedule: Contract, full-time, on-site; M-F 8am to 5 pm, with possible need for availability during other daytime hours Overview A healthcare services organization is seeking a Phlebotomist to support laboratory and specimen collection operations across multiple locations in the Austin, TX area. This is a contract position lasting approximately 3 months with the potential to convert to a permanent role, and it plays a key part in ensuring accurate, timely, and properly handled specimen collection for patient care. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance and decontamination data Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures in appropriate containers/tubes Follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Float between multiple locations in the Austin, TX area as assigned Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Minimum 1 year of experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Clean driving record Reliable transportation Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Mileage expenses paid for travel between float locations Why this role This contract position offers the potential to convert to a permanent role, along with available benefits and paid mileage expenses for travel across float locations in the Austin, TX area. #J-18808-Ljbffr Software Placement Group, SPG
