Job Title:  Produce Clerk

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Hourly Range: $18.50-$22.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Answers customer questions, directs customers to the items they are looking for, documents customer requests, and listens to customer complaints if the General Manager or Assistant Manager is unavailable.
• Properly uses knives, sinks, price guns, and irrigation and climate control equipment
• Cleans shelves, bins, cases, tables, and coolers; mops, sweeps, and/or vacuums the produce department floor, stock room, and coolers
• Bags or wraps purchases for the customer or display
• Ensures product is placed in the produce area, cuts and preps produce, removes old produce, and properly displays on shelves
• Organizes produce shelves 
• Fulfills sanitation and food safety guidelines
• Dynamically sells products by providing customers with information needed to make product-related decisions

Additional Expectations:

• Operates back room equipment, including the pallet jack
• Troubleshoots equipment breakdowns during shift and reports to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
• Keeps store in clean, orderly condition during shift.
• Sees that spills and hazardous conditions are cleaned up
• If a potential shoplifter is identified, uses CB to advise the Store Manager
• Operates equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury to oneself or others
• Protects the safety of self, co-workers, and Spangler’s Market patrons at all times
• Reports safety-related accidents and incidents to management at once
• Follows all company and safety policies and procedures
• Attends staff meetings as scheduled
• Assists in other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

• Strong front-facing customer service skills and effective communication abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team setting.
• Experience in stocking and produce is a plus, but we will train.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to operate back room equipment, including the pallet jack, in compliance with labor laws.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds 
• Produce: 1 year (Preferred)

Pay: $18.50 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 29 per week
