We are hiring a Fire Door Inspector / Field Service Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair fire-rated and smoke doors in healthcare and commercial facilities nationwide. This role ensures compliance with NFPA 80, NFPA 105, and International Building Code (IBC) standards through accurate inspections, detailed reporting, and hands-on maintenance and repair work. This is a travel-intensive role where you are paid to work and travel, supporting life-safety compliance in critical environments.

Inspect fire-rated and smoke doors per NFPA 80 standards

Complete REMEDI8 Fire Door Inspection training per TMP-001 / ISO 17020:2012

Perform maintenance and minor repairs to doors, frames, and hardware

Repair or replace locksets, latches, closers, strike plates, and related hardware

Correct door clearances through shimming and alignment

Fill holes in doors and frames and perform minor surface repairs

Clean, install, and adjust closers and hardware to resolve latching or closing issues

Develop action plans for door replacements with facility stakeholders

Document completed and incomplete repairs with accurate specifications

Read and follow Life Safety Plans (LSPs) while navigating facilities independently

Complete tablet-based inspection and repair reports

Follow infection control requirements in hospital environments

Maintain professional communication with customers and internal teams

Experience in fire door inspection, maintenance, repairs, or similar field service work

Ability to read and work from Life Safety Plans independently

Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools

High attention to detail and ability to identify and document deficiencies

Ability to perform on-site troubleshooting and repairs

Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines

Accurate record-keeping and documentation habits

Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, computers, and Microsoft Office

Fire door, life safety, or code compliance experience preferred but not required

Regular standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, and reaching

Ability to climb ladders and work above ceiling spaces

Ability to work in confined spaces and containment units

Ability to safely lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation

Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions

Must be at least 21 years of age to meet company driving and insurance eligibility requirements

Valid driver's license required. Ability to obtain and maintain identification necessary for work-related travel is required

Ability to travel up to 100% of the time (market dependent)

Ability to work occasional overtime, nights, weekends, or modified schedules as business needs require

Compensation & Benefits Disclosure: The compensation range for this position is $22.00-$25.00 per hour. This range represents REMEDI8's good-faith estimate of the compensation expected to be offered to a successful candidate at the time of hire. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, geographic location, market conditions, and business needs.
