Academic Wage: TRIO Upward Bound Educational Advisor Department : Coll Assistnc Migrnt Prg (MSA) Appointment Type : Academic Wage Job Location : McMinnville, OR Recommended Full‑Time Salary Range : $46,000‑$56,000 Job Summary The TRIO Upward Bound Program is seeking one salaried Academic Wage: Educational Advisor. This is a full‑time (1.0 FTE), 12‑month, fixed‑term position expected to last approximately 6‑8 months. Upon completion the role will transition to a regular appointment through a full recruitment process. The Educational Advisor coordinates services provided to program participants including advising, tutoring, Upward Bound curriculum, and workshops/field trips in accordance with grant requirements. The advisor provides initial and primary advisement to all participants, teaches a seminar, leads workshops, supervises in‑school student tutors, and coordinates recruitment and outreach for prospective participants. Key Responsibilities 30% Coordinates programs and services for participants: teaches UB curriculum, prepares cohort activities, delivers advisory instruction, evaluates and develops curriculum, plans tutoring sessions and college preparation events, assists with summer program planning, and supervises resident assistant staff. 25% Provides group and individual advisement: designs and monitors individualized education plans, administers assessments, conducts conferences with students and parents, advises on post‑secondary education and financial aid, tracks attendance and academic data. 20% Coordinates with target school staff and summer program staff: meets with staff regarding participant progress, obtains records, and coordinates field‑trip documentation. 15% Recruits and assists in selecting participants: screens applications, conducts intake interviews, and recommends candidate selection; assists in developing program communications. 5% Maintains participant records and tracks student progress: logs attendance and participation in tutoring, workshops, and field trips. 5% Participates in professional development and performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Director. What You Will Need Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Health Promotion, or a related field. One year of experience supporting low‑income high‑school students or families, or a Master’s degree which substitutes half‑year of experience. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with participants, parents, target school staff, and OSU faculty and staff. Demonstrated experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. Position requires successful completion of a criminal history check and, for youth‑program employees, additional checks every 24 months. Position requires driving a university vehicle or personal vehicle on behalf of the university; must pass a motor vehicle history check and hold a valid driver’s license. Starting salary within the range will be commensurate with skills, education, and experience. Experience with TRIO or similar grant‑funded programs such as CAMP or HEP is preferred. Knowledge of high‑school graduation requirements, credit evaluation, state assessments, and college entrance examinations.
