Location 127 Public Square, Cleveland Ohio Job Summary The VP, Portfolio Management is an individual contributor responsible for performing financial analysis and preparing underwriting documents to support multimillion‑dollar corporate credit requests that grow funded assets and Key’s client base, while maintaining asset quality within a moderate risk profile. These requests include obtaining initial approval for new, occasionally complex, credit exposure such as revolving credit facilities, term loans, leases, foreign exchange products, derivatives products, and other ancillary products, and amendments to existing exposure. Additionally, the VP, Portfolio Management is responsible for ongoing credit monitoring and risk rating for a portfolio of corporate clients with a complexity profile commensurate to experience, primarily participation in other bank’s syndicated deals with a small number of left‑lead deals, reviewing legal documentation, and assisting product partners in cross‑selling additional bank products. This individual should demonstrate leadership skills within credit underwriting and portfolio management; they may work somewhat independently, or in conjunction with other Portfolio Managers (PMs) on a deal team, providing feedback and guidance to junior staff as appropriate. As part of the first line of defense, Vice President PMs are expected to consistently demonstrate a solutions‑oriented, growth mindset that is supportive of line of business goals while still maintaining a moderate risk appetite and upholding asset quality. Essential Functions Gather and analyze all relevant financial data for, often high‑value, clients or prospects, including spreading financial statements and collaborating with third‑party vendors to ensure accuracy. Model future financial performance of clients and prospects, including downside scenarios. Structure transactions in collaboration with business partners, bankers, and relationship managers. Perform enhanced leveraged cash‑flow due diligence when appropriate for specific groups. Prepare thorough credit underwriting documents identifying credit risks and mitigants, industry concerns, market share trends, financial trends, and other pertinent credit issues. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations including Know Your Customer (KYC), Patriot Act, OFAC checks, and certifying beneficial ownership. Manage approval processes for lending commitments, amendments, waivers, and consents, and provide monitoring and reporting to credit executives. Review and maintain legal documentation such as credit agreements, guarantees, security pledges, and collateral documentation. Monitor accounts and ongoing financial performance to track covenant compliance and determine liquidity, earnings trends, and management capability. Maintain data integrity in Key’s systems and ensure assets remain appropriately risk‑rated. Identify potential problem accounts and work with Asset Recovery Group to improve the bank’s position. Maintain direct client relationships, attend management presentations and bank meetings, and conduct plant/site visits as appropriate. Contribute to or prepare white papers on assigned industry segments. Provide guidance and feedback to analysts and associates. Gather and prepare data in response to ad‑hoc data requests. Perform other duties as assigned and adapt to changes in responsibilities. Comply with all KeyBank policies and procedures. Education Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in finance, accounting, economics, and/or business (preferred). Master’s Degree (MBA) preferred. Work Experience Minimum of 5 years commercial underwriting, credit, banking, and/or financial services experience. Skills Demonstrates an understanding of foundational accounting principles and can interpret and analyze financial statements. Applies financial ratios to evaluate borrower’s financial strength and assess risk. Effectively evaluates emerging or existing considerations and uses informed decision‑making techniques. Communicates information clearly, concisely, and persuasively, both verbally and in writing. Synthesizes large amounts of complex information into manageable summaries. Demonstrates client focus and keeps stakeholders informed of real‑time status of matters. Shepherds a transaction through all required stages, staying organized, meeting deadlines, managing risk, and ensuring a favorable experience for the client. Identifies, assesses, and controls potential risks in corporate lending and properly grades loans to reflect risk level. Interprets and negotiates credit agreements and loan documentation and ensures accuracy in documentation. Initiates, sets clear objectives, prioritizes tasks, and manages deadlines to maximize productivity. Balances competing priorities and multitasks effectively. Demonstrates reliability, responsibility, and integrity. Recovers quickly from stressful or difficult conditions and remains adaptable. Questions assumptions to reach evidence‑based conclusions. Influences, motivates, and guides others toward common goals. Adopts a “big picture” perspective and considers broader implications of decisions. Presents and communicates effectively with collaborators. Manages time effectively and leads work independently with limited direction. Is competent with Microsoft Office and other technology applications. Gathers relevant research, analyzes data, and synthesizes information for detailed underwriting packages. Has experience structuring meaningful financial covenants for syndicated debt facilities. Manages left‑lead/administrative agent role in syndicated deals and leads negotiations with clients. Understands business and legal elements of credit agreements and collaborates with counsel. Possesses solid knowledge of banking and investment banking products, market dynamics, trends, and terms. Physical Demands General office: prolonged sitting, frequent use of computer, occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Travel: occasional overnight stays. Work Location Category Hybrid (3+ days in office). Compensation and Benefits Base salary ranging from $96,000.00 to $181,000.00 annually, with eligibility for incentive compensation including production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives. Position also eligible for standard KeyBank benefits.
