SUB TEACHER ASSISTANT

Job Details Position: Teacher Assistant – Head StartLocation: Penns Grove HS S25, Penns Grove, NJ 08069Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolSalary Range: $17.01 – $29.00 per hourTravel: Up to 25% Job Function Assist the Head or Group Teacher in carrying out activities that ensure the classroom meets the Head Start Performance Standards and New Jersey Licensing Regulations. Essential Functions Assist the teacher in planning and implementing educational activities, interacting with children in a developmentally appropriate manner, and contributing to the development and implementation of individualized plans for children. Assist the teacher in observing, screening, assessing, and documenting children's growth and development. Document observations and individual activities in blue books. Assist in carrying out administrative duties as delegated by the teacher. Assume teacher responsibilities in the absence of the teacher. Prepare and maintain appropriate records or reports, including daily attendance and classroom in‑kind items, and submit accurate recordings of in‑kind on a monthly basis. Participate in weekly Center staff meetings and other meetings as requested; attend training and workshops. Encourage and coordinate parent and volunteer involvement, accompany the teacher for educational home visits and parent/teacher conferences, and coordinate the classroom volunteer program. Perform any other Head Start tasks as delegated by the teacher or management. Qualifications Must have a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or be enrolling immediately in a CDA program; or be enrolling immediately in early childhood coursework leading to an associate or bachelor’s degree. Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Must have access to a reliable car available on a daily basis.
