Paramedic (EMT-P)

Job Description You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and serve as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. About the Role The role involves determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and is supported by the Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with plasma collection industry regulations and experience in a manufacturing environment are essential. The specialist follows guidance from BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center‑level support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS). Responsibilities Determine donor eligibility and manage informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self‑exclusion. Conduct medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, and review Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE). Evaluate donor reactions in accordance with SOPs and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of the Center Physician’s standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities. Refer unacceptable findings to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, donor safety, and eligibility. Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees. Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents. Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate‑equivalent education from a recognized nursing program with state requirements. Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities are assigned: LPN or LVN. Current CPR and AED certification. Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy. Completion of the FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
