Medical Office Associate I, Per Diem - Weekdays, Nephrology, Bayonne

Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions Phone Coverage: Answer, handle, and complete phone calls in a timely and efficient manner. Utilize appropriate telephone etiquette. Scheduling: Schedule patient appointments using general guidelines, selecting appropriate visit type and length. May be required to schedule meetings for physicians. Registration: Greet patients promptly upon arrival. Accurately collect and document time‑of‑service payments; verify demographics, emergency contact information, and insurance information. Correctly register patients in the system, including registration paperwork. EMR: Accurately enter information into EMR. Use EMR for prescriptions, phone notes, referrals, outreach, check‑out, etc. Additional duties: May require managing reporting, surgical scheduling, authorizations and referrals, and maintaining adequate supply inventory. Other duties: Perform any other duties as assigned. Travel: Travel to other practices as required by practice leadership. Other Desired Skills, Abilities & Knowledge Demonstrate interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required to serve a diverse customer base, and the ability to assist patients in a timely manner with concerns and/or complaints. Proficiency in patient registration, appointments, scheduling, arrival appointments, EMR phone notes, indexing documents within EMR, telephone etiquette. Working knowledge of computers and medical terminology, insurance, and Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Make appropriate decisions using available resources to achieve positive outcomes for patients, visitors, and staff in balance with sound business practice. Operate standard office machines and equipment such as photocopiers, PCs, faxes, scanners, general office and communication equipment. Basic problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Prior experience in an office setting with administrative tasks. Preferred Medical practice or other medical office experience.
