Human Resources Generalist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Generalist to lead and manage all HR functions in a growing, mission-driven organization rooted in peer support and community care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day HR operations, including employee relations, benefits, payroll coordination, and HRIS administration
• Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and staff development initiatives
• Serve as a trusted resource for HR guidance and conflict resolution
• Promote an inclusive, trauma-informed workplace culture aligned with peer support values
• Ensure HR compliance, policy management, and support audits and reporting
• Collaborate with leadership on workforce planning and organizational strategy

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3-5+ years of HR experience, ideally in a small or standalone role
• Knowledge of employment law (Maine experience preferred)
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Preferred:

• HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, etc.)
• Nonprofit or human services experience
• Familiarity with trauma-informed practices
