JOB OVERVIEW

What does it mean to be a part of our Maintenance team? In this role, you are responsible for all repairs and ongoing maintenance of the facility, including all equipment and company vehicles that our associates operate daily, as well as maintaining the grounds and parking lot areas. You will maintain and order supplies/parts as needed while also providing recommendations to repair and replace equipment to ensure proper functioning. You will conduct regular facility inspections and assist in developing a preventative maintenance schedule. In this team, you work directly with all departments within the facility on any maintenance needs that may arise. We have two areas of focus within our maintenance teams: building and equipment maintenance. The building maintenance team repairs and maintains the facility, while the equipment maintenance team repairs and maintains all equipment that our associates operate daily. Both teams conduct regular inspections and assist in developing preventative maintenance schedules.

PURPOSE

Responsible for diagnostics, prompt repair and ongoing maintenance of complex material handling equipment issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides diagnostics and recommendations to repair or replace poorly functioning equipment (15%) Efficiently prioritizes repair schedule to ensure uninterrupted production (10%) Ensures an adequate inventory of necessary spare parts and materials (10%) Maintains communication with management regarding activities and significant concerns (10%) Provides leadership, guidance, and training to other Equipment Maintenance Mechanics (10%) Manages installation of RF units and scan guns (10%) Assists in developing a preventive maintenance schedule (10%) Handles complex diagnostics and repairs including electrical systems, hydraulics, and brake systems (15%) Performs duties in accordance with HACCP and SQF policies and procedures (10%) Performs other relevant job duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education / Certifications / Equivalent combination of education training and experience: Certified Material Handling Engineer Mechanic ASE Certification Experience: 5+ years of on-the-job experience with electronics and mechanical equipment Machining and fabrication experience Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude, knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and hydraulics, and the ability to read and understand schematics. Oral and written communication skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Effectively communicates with other employees, supervisors/managers, customers, and outside contractors. Works well independently. Good judgment is required when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Onsite Role: This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT / DEMANDS

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently. Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20°F to 35°F in Perishable Operations and 37°F to 90°F in Grocery Operations. Requires repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements for maintenance and service procedures. Must work with hands and arms overhead, and in or under equipment. Requires manual dexterity, coordination, and good balance to work at ground level and in high places, and to operate work-related equipment. Specific vision abilities needed: close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Compensation UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position.
