A Fire Inspector is responsible for preventing fires and ensuring buildings follow fire safety laws . They inspect buildings, investigate hazards, and educate the public about fire prevention. Many work for local fire departments, government agencies, or safety organizations.

Primary Duties

• Conduct inspections of commercial, residential, and public buildings to ensure compliance with fire codes and safety regulations.
• Identify fire hazards such as blocked exits, faulty wiring, or improper storage of flammable materials.
• Enforce local and national fire safety codes like the National Fire Protection Association standards.
• Issue violation notices or citations and require corrective actions.
• Test and inspect fire protection systems (sprinklers, alarms, extinguishers).
• Review building plans and permits to ensure fire safety compliance before construction or renovation.
• Conduct fire investigations to determine causes and possible code violations.
• Maintain detailed inspection reports and documentation .
• Educate business owners, property managers, and the public on fire prevention practices .
