FACULTY MEMBER IN FAMILY MEDICINE

Academic Core Faculty Position

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

We are excited to announce an opening for a comprehensive core faculty role within our established 8-8-8 Family Medicine Residency Program in Phoenix, Arizona. This position encompasses both inpatient and outpatient medicine, where the selected candidate will lead and oversee care while supervising residents and students in both hospital and outpatient settings. The role will report directly to the Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency.

The ideal applicant will align with our commitment to community service and the educational mission of our Residency Program and institution. Candidates should demonstrate a strong dedication to graduate medical education, with a focus on teaching and mentoring residents and medical students across all facets of Family Medicine. This role also offers the chance to educate medical students and contribute to the advancement of Family Medicine at our institution's Phoenix campus. Responsibilities will include direct patient care, teaching residents and medical students, curriculum development, and engaging in administrative and scholarly activities in accordance with ACGME standards. Participation in night and weekend call services is required, with proctoring opportunities available.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Duties:

  • Develop and deliver lectures for didactic sessions aimed at residents and medical students.
  • Evaluate the performance of Creighton students during their Family Medicine clinical rotations and assign grades accordingly.
  • Engage in scholarly activities to enhance the academic environment.
  • Participate in committees associated with Creighton and DMG as assigned.
  • Guide students preparing for Family Medicine residency applications and provide letters of recommendation as necessary.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Clinical Duties:

  • Deliver direct patient care at the Family Medicine Residency Clinic located at South Central clinic (FQHC) and on the inpatient service at Valleywise Health Medical Center.
  • Oversee residents and students in both the family medicine clinic and inpatient settings.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, participate in committees, and engage in quality improvement initiatives and peer reviews as required.
  • Uphold professional and ethical standards in all conduct.
  • Maintain current professional certifications and licensure as required.
  • Exemplify professionalism by modeling and promoting appropriate behaviors within and outside the educational environment.
Qualifications

This position necessitates either a D.O. or M.D. degree. At the time of hiring, candidates must possess a current, unrestricted license to practice in Arizona, a valid DEA license for controlled substances (schedules 2-5), and be eligible for medical liability insurance. Board eligibility or certification in Family Medicine is required. Applicants should have a genuine enthusiasm for teaching Family Medicine and a strong commitment to a patient-centered approach in healthcare. Successful candidates will exhibit a collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset, a willingness to work within multidisciplinary teams, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Our FQHCs are eligible for both Federal and State HPSA Loan Repayment Programs, boasting a system score of 21.
